Yogananda, an Indian yogi, introduced the Western world to meditation and Kriya yoga for self-realization.
In his commentary on The Bhagavad Gita, the Hindu Bible, Yogananda explains the way to achieve liberation, which also means freedom from suffering. Yogananda talks about freedom in a spiritual way. I will interpret the same three methods as a way to overcome emotional suffering and emotional pain and receive divine grace, finally.
Divine Grace and Lessening Suffering
Would you like to free yourself or at least lessen your suffering? Then you must make an effort with all our heart, which makes up 25% of the requirements for lessening suffering. This includes in the Western world improving ourselves through personal inner emotional and spiritual work. Another 25% involves the guidance of inner and outer teachers, which can include angels, friends, situations, books, seminars, healing etc. All these help our own efforts. The last 50% involves Divine Grace, which according to some spiritual teachers such as El Morya, a Master of Wisdom, Grace surrounds us all the time as a part of creation.
To receive this divine grace, however, involves the surrender of our minds, fears, and physical and mental suffering of what we believe to be reality or truth to divine grace in whatever form it comes.
