Ponder This:

Conclusion: Our minds can never figure out or understand spiritual awakening. We make our best efforts, then Divine Grace determines when awakening will occur for us.
The Eastern mind being less developed in the poor and with people living simpler lives, than in the Western world, can experience spiritual awakening much easier.
