“Two men looked out from prison bars. One saw the mud, the other saw stars.” Dale Carnegie, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living
In the article “What is Ego Personality” I described ego and how we stay attached. On the one hand, we can live our whole life stuck in our ego. This gives us a false sense of safety. Also, ego has us believe we can control our life. We can overcome ego.
Thoughts arise and as one fades another replaces it. Constant chatter/noise without stop. We have learned to accept these thoughts as our identity.
This is an ongoing process with little or no cessation. Constant chatter. We grow to accept these thoughts as our identity; “I” “ME.” Alas, we never overcome ego.

Overcome Ego
Freeing ourselves of ego means Freeing ourselves of thought.
Ego will only dissolve in the Light of Awareness.
We go from focusing on the outside world. The world of survival and incessant accumulation.
We choose entering our inner world. Our inner world consists of emotions, feelings and sensations. We pay Attention, Accept and Embrace this world to overcome ego.
Right Brain Shift – Higher Connection
We can develop and use our right brain more.
Right brain or Higher Mind goes beyond ego mind. We may know it as Intuition, Higher Self or Soul.
Our Intuition consists of extra sensitivity beyond our 5 senses. Intuition comprises many abilities. I describe the 4 basic ones: Inner knowing; seeing; hearing and feeling. Which one or ones do you experience?
Intuition gives us higher insight into the next best step. This can be career, financial success, health or relationships. Begin to identify and use your intuition. Through experience you learn to trust. Over time you become one with intuition.
You can choose what your left-brain thinking mind tells you. Or you can choose to overcome ego. Choose what drops in from right brain intuitive mind.
Overcome Ego: Become a Witness
Good News: We have the choice/power observing our thoughts like an outside witness. Are we in the past or the future?
Have you ever been completely in the present moment? No thoughts arising. Experiencing. Beyond all thought. Perhaps, beauty of a flower or a person smiling. Have you ever got lost in the awe of a sunset? Do you remember the hypnotic nature of a flowing stream? Have you ever felt atonement with all nature: trees; mountains?
No ego or “ME” exists. You have overcome ego. Only Us in quietude/peace. You and life become one.
Overcome Ego: Embrace Your Inner Body Sensations
Now bring attention to the inside of your body. What are the sensations: pleasure; discomfort; pain; tension. What is the strongest sensation? What draws your attention?
Invite the sensation to have a voice. What do you imagine it would say? I am hungry, I am angry, I am sad etc. Sit and stay with that feeling/sensation for 5 or 10 minutes at least.
When thoughts arise come back as a silent observer and “feel/experience.” Be one with the sensation. Imagine you embrace the sensation like a small child or a favorite pet.
You cuddle and enjoy being at peace and present. with nothing You have nothing to do. No place you have to be. If thoughts arise, choose to put them aside.
Practice this meditation daily to overcome ego.
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing. The last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. Viktor Frankl, Psychiatrist, Author Search for Meaning
“The greatest discovery of any generation is that a human can alter his life by altering his attitude.” William James, American philosopher and Psychologist
